Rev. Calvin A. Birch is Founder and Pastor of the African Christian Community Church (ACCC). Shortly after his graduation from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in 2003 Rev. & Mrs Birch gave birth to the ACCC in their home in Richmond. Pastor Birch continues to faithfully serve the church and the immigrant community of Richmond and surrounding areas.
Rev. and Mrs Birch were married on November 25, 1995. Their union is blessed with seven children, Including Olive, (June 3, 1990, still in Liberia), Esther (December 19, 1999), Calvina (January 24, 2002), Joel (July 5, 2005), Calvin Jr,(August 3, 2006) Precious (November 22, 2007, and Lydia (May 5, 2009).
Through his inspirational and visionary leadership the ACCC now runs several ministries, including the Barnabas project, Inc. The Barnabas Project is a nonprofit ministry of the church designed as a social-community witness to African immigrants and needy families in Richmond and throughout the State of Virginia. The Barnabas Project runs an after school tutoring and mentoring program for boys and girls enrolled within Richmond Public Schools.(click link for details).
The Hospitality Committee among other things, operates the church's Food Pantry. The Pantry feeds hundreds of needy individuals and families of Richmond. Other ministries of the church include Sunday School, headed by Rev. Precious Adzie-Stonnes , Women's Missionary Union (WMU) headed by Hawa Gobah, midweek Discipleship group, Clothes Closet, the Monthly Community Meals, and Family Life Conferences, etc.
Pastor Birch's professions accomplishments include:
1. Doctor of Ministry (D. Min)- currently enrolled at Baptist Theological Seminary At Richmond
2. Doctor of Ministry (D. Min)-former students with Drew University in Madison, NJ
3. Master of Divinity (M. Div.)-Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology @ Virginia Union University
4. Bachelor of Theology (B. Th)-Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary (LBTS), Paynesville, Liberia.
5. Associate of Arts (AA-Economics)-A. M. E. Zion Community College, Monrovia, Liberia.
Pastor Birch has also gained trainings and experiencesas a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), Special Education Teacher and Counselor.
